Southwest Tiny Homes, LLC is based in sunny New Mexico. The homes we design and build are meant to simplify your life. “Tiny home living” is eco-friendly, leaves a smaller footprint, and allows you more time to experience life, family and friends—rather than simply working to pay a mortgage.
Southwest Tiny Homes owner Steve Villines is an accomplished custom home builder with over 40 years of experience in custom home building and remodeling. Southwest Tiny Homes, LLC is Steve’s compact dream come true. One of Steve’s Tiny Homes was featured on Tiny Home Nation (episode aired July 23, 2016). see photos
The company offers 12 floor plans to choose from, but clients may also custom-design layouts to fit their own needs and desires. All Southwest Tiny Homes are built on a solid trailer foundation. We prefer using steel frames in our construction for strength and durability. Homes start at $18,000.00 (trailer and shell) and can run to $85,000.00 for a completely finished home. We are also available to consult with clients who would like help planning or building their own custom tiny home.
Steve Villines is the President and owner of Southwest Tiny Homes, LLC. This article on Steve was written in January of 2015 by Jason Scott.
Originally from Seattle, Steve ran a successful construction and remodeling business in the northwest before relocating himself and his family to sunny New Mexico in 1995.
Steve built his business in Seattle on high-quality work and word-of-mouth.
“It’s really about making the customer happy. Because of the quality of the work and the way I treat the customer, they’d often tell many of their friends. We’d stay busy all the time and not have to advertise at all.”
A finish carpenter by trade, Steve has been in the construction and remodeling business for over 40 years. He’s done it all, from kitchen and bathroom remodels to new home building to working on million-dollar buildings.
That experience led him to found his business, Southwest Tiny Homes, where he could put that skill to use.
“I saw something where I could utilize all of my talents,“ he says. “From construction to finish work to framing to roofing to siding to painting, all culminated in one small package. And it’s built to use.”
The ‘it,’ of course, is the tiny home that Steve’s business is centered on. Tiny home owners have all kinds of reasons for going small, but the tiny home concept allows owners to go small without sacrificing style or comfort. Steve’s homes are built with full-size bedrooms and bathrooms, but in a compact and mobile way.
“People are trying to simplify their lives,” says Steve. “They don’t want to be, the old cliché, married to a mortgage payment.”
And ranging in price from about $30-$70 thousand, tiny homes don’t have to break the bank.
And that’s what Steve is all about. His business is not just a way to make a living, it’s a way to make a difference.
“I just want to be able to be an asset around here in T or C, where I live,” Steve says. “I want to help create jobs. I want to put out a product that people are proud of.”
Steve believes in delivering on his promises. His goal is to satisfy his customers by ensuring that they love their new home or remodel. The team at Southwest Tiny Homes offers design services so that they can deliver results that fit the specific needs of their customers; whether they need a tiny home as a primary residence, vacation home, or a mobile office or studio, or a kitchen or bathroom remodel that refreshes and increases the value of an existing home.
Steve isn’t much into talking about himself. He prefers to let his work do the talking for him.
“Don’t say a word about it, just let them see you do it,” he says. “I do what I say I’ll do, and I follow through. Customers are number one in my book.”
Give Steve and the team at Southwest Tiny Homes a call and let them earn your business. You’ll walk away with a handshake and the confidence of knowing you’re working with a passionate professional with your specific needs at heart.
